Kids Yoga Classes

Tuesdays 4-5pm - Kids aged 4-7 years

Yoga from a young age is a fun way for children to develop physical health and well-being by building self-awareness, strength and flexibility for the mind and body. Each week we will focus on a different theme. Classes are structured around different themes such as: friendship, empathy and confidence. Unlike other sports, yoga is practised in a nurturing, non-competitive environment which allows children to relax, have fun whilst developing coordination, communication skills, balance, as well as increasing body awareness.

The skills children learn on the mat can serve them well in their everyday life as they learn tools to handle emotions, anxieties and everyday stresses. Regular yoga practice is beneficial for all aspects of childrens' lives, especially learning to be present in a moment, helping to improve concentration and participation in schooling. Join us to give your child the opportunity to find their inner peace!

 

Tuesdays 5-6pm - Kids aged 8-12 years

A regular yoga practice for older children is so beneficial at this busy time in their lives. From a young age children begin to experience pressure to perform academically and socially. Add to this the pressure of competitive organized sports and it’s is easy for children to become overly self-critical, and lose confidence in themselves. During this time, yoga can be a great remedy for the tension associated with daily stressors as well as an important facilitator of healthy physical, emotional and cognitive development.
 
During a children’s yoga class there is a complete absence of judgment and competition; doing a pose ‘perfectly’ or better than another is not the aim of yoga. This unconditional positive regard and encouragement creates a nourishing environment, allowing children to relax and have fun whilst developing strength, coordination, flexibility and balance, as well as increasing body awareness. These classes will assist your child with developing tools to combat anxietities, everyday stresses and remaining in the present moment, helping to improve concentration. These are valuable strategies which will assist them now and later in life!
